The Preferred Connection Network is SCF Arizona’s workers’
compensation-specific PPO network – a statewide group of hospitals,
occupational medical clinics, urgent-care facilities, physicians, physical
medicine providers and ancillary service providers.
PCN is driven by specialists who work in unison to get
injured workers back to work as quickly, safely and cost effectively as
possible. PCN providers agree to produce the best possible outcomes and accept
discounted rates.

Under Arizona
law, employers may direct their injured workers in writing to a provider of the
employer’s choice once per claim. This is usually done at the time of the first
office visit. By directing the injured worker to a preferred provider,
employers are taking the most effective step to manage claims expenses.
Although workers are free to choose their own doctors, workers usually elect to
remain with the doctor they first see. Also, network providers agree to make
referrals only to PCN member providers.
SCF Arizona suggests that employers pre-select a preferred
provider before an accident occurs, and advise employees in writing of the
designated site. Employers can manage costs further by being available to the
provider to discuss nature of their business, and their modified work and
light-duty policies. This will allow the attending physician to release the
employees to regular or modified work as quickly, safely and cost-effectively
as possible.
